Who I am
This website (www.abiatutoring.co.uk) is run by Abia Mirza, a private tutor based in Scotland, trading as Abia Tutoring. I am the data controller for the personal data collected through this site. If you have any question about this policy or your data, please get in touch through the contact page.
What I collect and why
Enquiries
When you send an enquiry or request a trial session, I collect the details you enter: your name, email address, phone number (if you give one), the level and subjects you are interested in, and your message. I use these only to reply to you and to arrange tutoring.
The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to get in touch on your behalf.
Analytics
If you accept analytics cookies, I use Google Analytics to see how visitors use the site, for example which pages are viewed and roughly where visitors are located. This relies on your consent. Nothing is sent to Google Analytics unless you click "Accept".
Cookies
The site sets no cookies by default. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_*, which last up to two years and are used to tell visitors apart. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage. You can change it at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link at the bottom of every page.
Who your data is shared with
I do not sell your data. It is handled by a small number of service providers on my behalf:
- Vercel, which hosts this website;
- an email delivery service and my email provider, which deliver your enquiry to my inbox;
- Google, for Google Analytics, only if you have consented.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is covered by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to tutoring are deleted within 12 months. If you become a student, I keep your contact details for as long as we work together and for a reasonable period afterwards. Google Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask me to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how it is used, and withdraw consent at any time. To do so, contact me through the contact page. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
